... of the oven saga.
Got a call: delivery tomorrow!
Joy ponders. Wait: delivery? What about haul-away and installation?
Call back. Get a bit of a runaround. Eventually get someone who tells us that, after the oven is dropped off, the installers will schedule the other stuff.
Which, after the past couple of months, we don't for a moment believe.
And, supposedly, that one installation "company" is the only one in the region that does appliance installations... except that it seems that they don't, in fact, do installations.
So now Joy's off to the store to cancel the whole thing, and look for another place to order the oven, for delivery rather than maybe-installation. I'll try to recruit a neighbor to help remove the old oven and, after we finish cabinet prep, to help put the new one in its place.
Just getting the oven you paid for will be a HUGE thing! I'll keep my fingers crossed that it actually shows up :-)
Enjoy the last 3 days of the year!

I've no patience.... did the oven arrive?

No; Joy canceled the whole order, since the installers pretty clearly weren't prepared to do an actual installation, and there was the possibility that they'd drop off the new oven and declare the job done without even hauling away the old one.
The new plan is for me to recruit a neighbor to help move the old oven out to the garage, after which we'll do the necessary work on the cabinet to make the new oven fit, then we'll order the same model of oven from another store and, worst case, install it ourselves.

Well good luck with the new plan! Have a safe & enjoyable New Years Eve!

How goes the oven? Have a good end of the year?

End of year was pretty much uneventful.
The past week has been largely unproductive, including not lining up neighbor assistance in moving the old oven. I'll try to get that done this weekend.
The most exciting development is that, between supplemental light and supplemental high protein / high calcium food, the chickens have gotten more productive again - not up to summer levels, but we're getting at least one egg a day, and usually two or three.
