Apparently the blade on the miter saw is in fact having problems.
Just used it again, for the first time since a piece of 2x2 I was cutting exploded, and partway into a cut there was a commotion involving sparks and noise.
Yikes?
Looks like some of the carbide teeth are in fact broken; it just isn't obvious without a careful inspection.
So, gotta swing by Horror Fright tomorrow for a new blade, and maybe a spare.
The one that's failed is the one that came with the saw... back in early 2020... and it's seen a fair bit of use, so I guess I shouldn't complain.
If it was me I'd think I hit a nail.. Have you had luck with Harbor Freight blades before?

Pretty sure there weren't any nails involved. It's a "Hercules"-branded blade, matching the saw. It has seen a fair amount of use... and it's possible I might have cut through some fasteners in past years, weakening some of the teeth.
Once a tooth comes off while cutting, it seems likely that the next tooth will come along at hit the broken one, leading to sparks and commotion.
