This one... well.
Locally, we had fairly energetic weather, with chaotic wind and a brief thunderstorm bringing maybe a quarter-inch of rain. The power has flickered repeatedly.
Elsewhere? The Knoxville weather alert transmitter was (and currently remains) out of service, so weather radios failed to warble despite all the excitement (including a tornado watch). And a phone conference was postponed until sometime-next-week because ToasterCo's servers were down. (I don't know where said servers are located.)
And, our mail was delivered to the next-door mailbox. Neighbor came up the driveway with the mail a little before dark.
Ah, well. Been reviewing documents and figuring out what'll be needed for this new project. Gonna be busy times.
Addendum: The first weirdness of the day? I went to open a new bag of granola. One of those handy reclosable-type bags, it was. There are four things that can go wrong with such a bag, and this one hit all four:
- The "tear here" didn't in fact tear properly.
- The tear line was above the factory heat seal, instead of being between the heat seal and the zipper strip.
- The zipper strip was poorly attached to the bag, such that it would separate more easily from the bag than from its other half.
- But that didn't matter, because the zipper strip wouldn't zip anyway.
Now it's Saturday morning, and the weather alert transmitter remains out of service. Good thing we're due for a few days of calm weather.
And in the wee hours of the morning I had a bizarre dream: it was just after bedtime Friday night, Joy woke me up to tell me that my father had some new medical issue that probably called for a trip to the ER, and I was trying to get dressed but was persistently having trouble with the difference between shirt and pants. Wasn't even cute, like the time Albert Alligator wore jodhpurs as a jacket; just stupid.
Random thought: there's a meme making the rounds showing the difference between a Taco Watch and a Taco Warning. Is there also such a thing as a Mickey Mouse Warning? Like: Watch = conditions are right for Disney; Warning = pack yer bags, we're going to Disneyland?
Update: Well, look what I found this morning!
How...?
No, the chickens don't have a half-ton battlemech stashed in their coop. I searched the coop. No battlemech.
Best guess, the lightning temporarily transformed one of the chickens into a full-sized dinosaur. Good thing it returned to chicken size before I went out there.
I have bag sealer rod-clips the term varies. I got them from Acme... sorry, Amazon. They work really well, I've had half bags of chips stay crisp for weeks. I use the small ones for frozen vegetable bags & I'll put one on if the self sealer doesn't work anymore.

We have those clips too, but zipper bags are more convenient when they work. Alas, the quality control on such bags has gone way downhill the past couple of years - it's like there's nobody left at the food-packaging plants who understands how the bags are meant to work, knows how to adjust the machinery, and cares about the outcome.
