Looks like the EUrozone's holy environmental commitments will require closing down a substantial fraction of the farms, and forcing the remaining ones to fall back on medieval methods of agriculture.
Surely there's got to be a plan here. But what is it?
- The Queen of the Space Unicorns will intervene. (S. Harris: "I think you should be more explicit in step 2.")
- If medieval agriculture was good enough to feed Europe in the Middle Ages, it'll be good enough now.
- Crops will adapt to the needs of humans. Lysenko shall be vindicated!
- The rulers have well-stocked bunkers, where they can wait until the Earth's population reaches a sustainable level; then they'll return to lead the survivors with their great wisdom and self-evident nobility.
I'm thinking it's the last one, part of plan to restructure society and shrink it down to an easily managed size.
