... In no small part because I was almost completely useless yesterday, with a headache, and I didn't get much done in the yard the past week, what with the heat wave.
So, today... spraying herbicide; drilling holes in the tops of a couple of T-posts (guess what: today's hardware-store-grade twist drills don't work worth anything on mild steel); driving into the medium-sized city to visit the ag co-op (they seem to think we're past both planting season and poultry season); while I'm there, poking my head into the Tractor Supply across the street.
A couple of notes: the co-op not only didn't sell out of 19-19-19 fertilizer, they even have the remaining stock slightly marked down. I didn't buy any, but perhaps next time I'm out that way with the truck I'll see if they still have any; having another couple of bags squirreled away couldn't hurt. And, amid the few plants on display outside Tractor Supply, some of the tomatoes seemed to have the blight... which suggests that it might indeed have come from the nursery that supplies most of the plant retailers around these parts. United Food and Dressing, anyone?
Oh, and the co-op had bags of a fungicide that might hold promise for the off-season, each bag being enough for multiple acres. I didn't buy any, but took a photo so's I can look it up on the 'Net and see if it appears suitable for rehabilitating this years tomato zone and/or protecting next year's.
This afternoon, mowing a few areas that were getting out of hand (meadow downhill of cow wallow; lawn over septic drainfield; part of the future expanded farmland). Sometime soon, I need to do some mower maintenance.
