Like, kind of a sharp flavor to it?
Got a most urgent e-mail, ostensibly from my hosting company (Linode), informing me that
We have received a notice from our fraud detection team advising that your account has been flagged as "high risk". In such cases, we require additional information to verify your identity as the cardholder.
There's more, and there's a link down at the bottom for submitting photos of my government-issued ID card and the credit card I'm using to pay for the account.
Funny thing, though: the From: address is something unconnected to Linode. And it was sent to the address in my domain registration, not the address in my Linode account profile. And that link at the bottom? The actual link is very different from the displayed text.
Yeah, gotta be phishing. Nice try, guys.
