A point of disagreement with David Stockman

In his piece here (found here), Stockman writes:

In a word, we are in the midst of the greatest and most fraught science experiment of all time

Er, no.  There's nothing scientific about it, and it's not a proper experiment, in that there's no hypothesis being tested and the "experimenters" are paying no attention to the results.

 

But here's a little thought experiment.  Imagine if you will that the last two years didn't happen, that all was normal (old-normal, that is) up until last month, and then the Omicron Variant emerged.  What would the reaction have been?

I'm guessing: "Gee, a lot of people seem to be catching colds this season."

Without the publicity this whole thing would have been another bad flu season.
