The new dehumidifier did in fact arrive today, and after sitting upright and turned off for a few hours (not the prescribed 24, but, really, who observes that point in the instructions?), it's now dribbling water down the drain and indeed reducing the humidity in the basement. Yay!
And, the new phone arrived and is now charging. Before I go moving the SIM and flash cards, I need to review the procedure for migrating everything, including the Signal app's data. Funsies. Well, the old one is still (mostly) working, so I can continue to use it for a while... maybe until I get the car back from the shop, since once that happens there shouldn't be any urgent incoming calls. New one has a bigger display packed into a very slightly bigger overall form factor. Oh, and I guess I should order a padded skin for it, given that the old one has jumped out of my pocket a couple of times (as well as once hitting the driveway rather hard while still in my pocket, that time I fell off the truck).
In other news, squashes (and, to a lesser extent, melons) are taking over the kitchen counter. It seems to be harvest season already. Past harvest season for some things: most of the big pumpkins have already rotted. (I got a couple of them before they rotted, and cooked one. It wasn't very good. I don't think I'll plant that variety next year, but will look for something both tastier and smaller.)
There are several recalls out on dehumidifiers right now. I recently got notifications for the one I am using and the one it replaced - seems they like to catch fire. Might be worthwhile to see if the old one will pay for its replacement.
