Last night, just after my bedtime, the storm was quite impressive. Loud rain, much lightning, general commotion.
Today so far, mostly just moderate rain, but a fair amount of it.
Sometime when the weather is more clement, I need to take a ladder out to the weather station and see what's wrong with it; it keeps losing communication. Maybe its battery needs replacing. Also, maybe the rain gauge funnel needs cleaning. Anyway, I don't have a credible reading for how much rain we're getting. There's a decent amount of runoff making its way to the pond, though.
No, I very much wouldn't rather experience one of these shindigs out on the coast. With regard to big storms, I prefer to be well inland and preferably on the far side of at least one mountain range.
