Arranged in front of the abstract opus were the paint cans and brushes used in its creation. They’re considered part of the piece, which may have given the aforementioned pair the wrong impression.
Wait, there was usable paint lying around? It hadn't been allowed to dry out before being put there for people to misunderstand and/or trip over?
And, well. Look at that paint-bespattered piece of wall, and tell me with a straight face that it's a work of art, let alone one worth half a megabuck. Wait, does that "value" include the price of the building it's painted on? That might be plausible.
