No, not Corona® Brand Viral Pestilence.
The Corona® Brand anvil type garden pruning lopper.
I'm quite certain the blade isn't supposed to do this:
I'd noticed last week that the blade was being kinda bendy in a side-to-side manner, and had ordered a more heavy-duty lopper that gets favorable reviews in terms of durability and whatnot (it arrived yesterday afternoon, while we were out back). I hadn't noticed that there was a big bent area in the edge, right smack dab where cutting tends to happen... or, with this distortion, not to happen. Yesterday, I was really noticing that it didn't want to cut with the middle of the blade.
I'm guessing that the blade is made of mild steel, so any attempts at heat treatment would be pointless at best. I've hammered it back into some semblance of shape. Maybe I'll try to round up a replacement blade.
This afternoon, I'll give the new lopper a try. And maybe the old one will still be OK for light duty.
(Ugh. Amazon has an exact replacement blade, presumably the same crap grade of steel... for nearly the price of a whole new lopper. But wait! A replacement blade for the new lopper reportedly will fit the old one, and it's way cheaper.)
