Coupla times lately, on the pre-dawn trudge to fetch the paper, I've suddenly had the sensation of little bitty creepy-crawly critters crawling all over me.
I believe this is known as formication, after formica, the latin word for kitchen countertops (which so often have ants crawling all over them).
Hm. Well, I'm pretty sure I don't have the DTs - heck, I've never even been to Barsoom - but, given the weather conditions, maybe it's static electricity telling me I should be indoors?
Nope! This morning, once I got back to the bright lights of the garage, I confirmed the cause: little bitty creepy-crawly critters were in fact crawling all over me. Looked vaguely aphidy. Guess I'd walked through a cloud of them, whatever they were (maybe next time I'll try to capture one intact and put it under a microscope).
Oh, and speaking of weather conditions and the daily trudge: looks like next time the weather is favorable I need to scrape the driveway again; these torrential downpours, though brief, are doing terrible things to the driveway, and I don't want any delivery vehicles falling into chasms. One of these months, we really need to get the professionals out here to re-do the driveway properly.
