It seems that Doctor The WHO's action in flipping the sign from DON'T PANDEMIC (in large friendly letters) to GO AHEAD AND PANDEMIC gave the Orange Tyrant the excuse he needed to discriminate against people of the "have recently visited Europe" race. Wait, that's a race now? Seems like everything's a race. On your Marx, get set....
In California, His Awsomeness Gavin I has decreed that non-essential gatherings should be limited to 250 people maximum, but Disneyland is to remain open. Because that's an essential gathering. Or maybe because it's the Magic Kingdom, and the magic will protect the public from mundane pathogens. Nobody's ever picked up a virus at Disneyland, right?
Oh, and the Dow dropped a highly suspicious 9.99%. Like, one rounding error shy of 10%. Really?
Hm. There's now a confirmed case of the WuFlu just one county over (Knox), but he apparently caught it overseas and has been in isolation since his return. Er. What about the other people who were on the plane...?
Comparing the word on the Internet to the view out the window, the severe thunderstorm we were promised for this afternoon seems to have fizzled out.
Ah, well. Time to do something about dinner. Then I need to resume my ponderment of a client's latest challenge, and see about implementing a solution in Verilog (integrated with a years-old accumulation of code).
Update: I forgot to mention that all the geezers on the WuFlu task force have apparently been exposed. Well, that gives 'em an incentive.
Dinner ended up being a vague approximation of Hoppin' John, which I'd never tried before (and which has no connection to Hap'n Frog, regular nor spicy). Came out fairly tasty, though with a bit of a soggy texture. Next time: less liquid, and a correspondingly shorter cooking time.
Afterthought to the update: Hoppin' John is also no relation to Johns Hopkins, as far as I know.
