Some years ago, I commented on the emptiness of Dubya's pockets.
Now there's the Incident of Trump Eclipsing the Queen (from a particular camera angle, anyway). And something comes to mind:
What does the Queen of England carry around in her purse?
Why does she even carry a purse? Is this some personal thing, like Mattis doing his own laundry? Is it simply an obligatory part of a respectable lady's attire? Or is it stuffed with launch codes and the like, that no other may be trusted with?
Update: The reactions on Twitter show that Progressive activists are convinced that the English, like the Chinese, are a bunch of weird alien bugs from Star Trek with rituals that must be followed exactly and perfectly so as not to provoke the wrath of the Alien Queen. Also, they seem to have forgotten that whole 1776 thing.
She uses it to signal to her staff. If she places it on the table a certain way, it means she wants her staff to come get her out of a situation.
