Saturday morning? 0000 Saturday? Sunset on Friday? Close of business on Friday?
I just logged on to my J. Pierpoint Manhattan account, intent on paying my credit-card bills. There was a notice: If you're logging in this weekend, some services may not be available.
Well, fine. It's still Friday morning. Well... going on afternoon, New York time. Almost closing time, UTC, which I guess makes it after closing time in London, assuming they set their clocks ahead for summer there, which appears to be the case. But J. Pierpoint Manhattan isn't in London, is it?
And yet... balances shown are yesterday's (and flagged as such). On-line credit-card payment is already off-line for scheduled maintenance.
Oh, well. I'm OK as long as they get it working again by Monday; the payments aren't actually due until Tuesday and Thursday. Could even put checks in the today's mail and probably be OK. If all else fails, I can amble into the local branch Monday afternoon, payments in hand, right? Lughnasadh isn't a 5-day-weekend bank holiday... right?
Update: So here it is, before sunrise Saturday morning, and when I check the bank's web site, all seems normal. It lets me pay the bills. Not only did the weekend start early, it finished early. Or maybe bankers use a weird definition of "weekend"?
