This isn't dated April Fool's Day. I checked.
People are seriously calling for "cultural appropriation" to be outlawed?
Hello? The very concept of "cultural appropriation" is egregiously racist. Shall we become a totally segregated society, in which the races aren't even allowed to speak a common language? And do we need to purify our languages of loanwords and borrowed grammatical features?
What do we do about mixed-race individuals? Obviously, we must reinstate the ban on miscegenation, but what of those already born to mixed couples? They don't fit the new legal framework; must we exterminate them?
And there's this:
Speaking to the committee Monday, James Anaya, dean of law at the University of Colorado, said the UN's negotiated document should "obligate states to create effective criminal and civil enforcement procedures to recognize and prevent the non-consensual taking and illegitimate possession, sale and export of traditional cultural expressions."
This guy's a dean of law? At an accredited university? In the United freaking States?????
Bye-bye First Amendment, equal protection, and just about every other underlying principle of law as we know it.
And, by the way: that Supremacy Clause? I do not think it means what you think it means. Got an essay on that subject knocking around the back of my head. The Pope is involved. (That's the Bishop of Rome, not the Space Pope.)
Seriously, these Social Justice types make the old Apartheid regime look sane by comparison.
