Aside from the problem of ballot secrecy, when people vote outside of voting booths....
If you mail in your ballot early, as is the fashionable thing, and then your candidate beats up a reporter the day before the ballots are to be counted, it's too late to change your vote.
Being of a reactionary bent, I maintain that absentee voting should be exclusively for those who have a legitimate reason for not showing up at the polls on the appointed day. Disabled, deployed overseas, away at college, on a business trip, something like that. Not: Everybody vote by mail! Then we won't have to have polling places, and elections will be so much cheaper!
