Or, the ongoing decline of brick & mortar retail....
It would be convenient for me, this week, to have a container (or two) suitable for transporting a pint of hot chicken soup. Or hot coffee. Happens the intended payload is chicken soup.
I used to have at least two medium-sized thermice around here, but can't seem to find them. They may have gotten re-organized into some inaccessible place.
So I went to a couple of stores this morning. Drug store: they got ice chests, and half-gallon beverage coolers, and, in the sports-bottle department, a genuine Thermos-brand fancy insulated 18-ounce sports bottle (not for use with hot liquids). Hardware store: the department where that category of stuff ought to be has vanished. Fry's: no luck.
Maybe I should have tried Target, but I was running way behind schedule by then. I ended up ordering something vaguely appropriate (but upmarket, and pricey) from Amazon. Might have been something closer to the mark, but I got tired of searching through all the completely unsuitable search results.
Next time I'm in Target or Wally World, I should remember to look for cheap, moderate-sized, insulated bottles.
