Not for me, so much. Mostly spend at my desk, dealing with fiddly firmware issues.
But, just across the freeway from SVR Central?
As the day was cooling off and the Sun was approaching the horizon, red through the smoke (which apparently drifted in from wildfires, so people are having eventful days elsewhere too), Joy wanted to go walkies.
There was a civilian-type helicopter (news? police?) buzzing around in circles. I figured there must be a Situation on the freeway, and suggested strolling over the pedestrian overpass to have a look.
Hm. Traffic on the freeway seems normal. Twinkly police car parked at the other end of the overpass, though, and a fire truck going by. Eh?
Then more police activity visible, down a side street.
Turns out there was an officer-involved shooting a couple of hours earlier, with a fugitive still at large. News coverage here, here, and here.
Helicopter's still a-buzzin'. Maybe they haven't caught the second guy yet.
Sunday morning update: No further news reports. Around 0800, Marty's Donuts was well staked out.
Tuesday midday update: More details here and here. Buncha choirboys from out of town, just passing through on their way to a performance, and riding in the Jag because the church bus was full? There does seem to be a lot more serious trouble in this town the past couple of years. I fear it's becoming big-citified.
