Well, now. Seems the scumweasels of Prenda Law are suspected of having seeded torrents of the content over which they would subsequently sue torrenters.
The FBI is now sniffing around The Pirate Bay for evidence of this.
Thing is, once an Investigation is opened, it takes on a life of its own, and can lead in all manner of interesting directions.
For example! I have a dim memory of a case back in, oh, musta been this past spring or thereabouts. The Feds started investigating suspicious financial transactions that could have been evidence that a certain Great Old One, sorry, ex-Congressbeing was being blackmailed.
And, somehow, despite the evidence of blackmail turning up, it was the victim of the blackmail who ended up being prosecuted.
So the maybe-criminal sleazebaggery of Prenda gives grounds for the investigation... but who knows where stray bits of evidence will point, and who'll end up in prison?
