New-dingus post coming soon; it's the second prototype of that itty-bitty missile-guidance-systems-for-peace project.
Got the provisional patent placemarker filed this afternoon, being the 16th of March in the year 2015 of the Common Era, or, if you prefer, Setting Orange, the 2nd day of Discord in the Year of Our Lady of Discord 3181.
And, I assembled (mostly) the top side of the new prototype, applying the solder paste with, for a change, a stencil. I still seem to have gotten too much paste on the pads for the QFN parts. The standard-temperature, lead-free paste with no-clean flux wasn't that much of a pain to reflow, but cleaning up the blobs was a nuisance (and involved adding flux, which then required cleaning).
I'll leave the bottom side (with the low-temperature solder) for tomorrow; stenciling on the paste promises to be Interesting, given that I haven't gotten around to machining a jig to hold the board with its installed components hanging down into little cavities. Come to think of it... I suppose I could 3D print it, and it'd be good enough for the nonce; I can leave the proper jig for the third iteration of the board.
Enough leaning over a workbench for today, and besides Tinga is squawking for her beddy-bytes.
