Here a patch, there a patch, everywhere a patch patch....
Yeah, keeping up with the Debian "You should update your system" notifications is kinda busy of late.
Seems all manner of libraries have security-related bugs that are just now being uncovered, and every time a library maintainer pushes a bug fix, the distro maintainers have to push a fix for the library and any applications affected by the change (I'm not sure what the criteria are; surely most applications using shared libraries just need to be restarted after the library is updated, unless there's been an API change*).
Anyway, it's one more dang distraction. And, when my workstation asks to be updated, it's my cue to check on the two virtual servers I administer, plus my local server and the lab machine.
I should probably plug the laptop in and get it all up to date, too. And... maybe also the mini-laptop? That's gotta be half a year out of date at least.
Hm. Wonder if there are any updates available for the Chumby.
* The API's position on change is that you should do so at the interval recommended by the vehicle's manufacturer.
