Just saw a story, on an overseas site, about a particular group of out-of-control cops in the U.S.
A commenter explained that police overreaction was totally understandable, given that the NRA has gotten concealed-carry laws passed in many states the past couple of decades, so people might be carrying guns!
Er.
Let's see, now.
The dangerous criminals would have been carrying guns anyway, no? They kinda ignore the laws against such things, don't they?
So what's new is that some of the people carrying guns are not criminals? The horror!
Couple that with violent crime in the U.S. being at a 20-year low, especially in those flyover states where permissive CCW has been adopted, and, yeah. You can see how cops totally have to resort to preëmptively beating up suspects.
(The incident in question was in a city where the criminals and the politicians (but I repeat myself) are notoriously out of control, so why shouldn't the cops be likewise? After all, the department is run by the crooked politicians.)
