The WiFi is often flaky. Extremely so. And entirely unsecured, in many cases. Good thing I boosted the data limit on my cellphone account* a few days ago, so tethering for on-the-go access is a reasonable option.
Bring your own Kleenex® brand kleenices. Motels these days provide off-brand kleenices, or none at all.
Also, shampoo is pretty much BYO. Soap? Provided, but not necessarily very good. TP hasn't yet deteriorated to BYO status, but it's getting there.
Currently in a Motel 6, well under $60 at this location. Good furnishings, room layout and electrical outlet locations a bit inconvenient, soap generic, no shampoo nor kleenices. Ice machine works; WiFi unreliable but somewhat usable. Haven't tried the mini-fridge nor nuker, nor the big honkin' CRT TV.
Additional, non-motel:
Saturday @ 0915 is peak-busy time at the Waffle Hose.
Soft coolers have their place, but a trip though a humid climate isn't it. Shoulda brought something vaguely airtight.
* Verizon's price per gigabyte is outlandish. Really, $10 per extra gig? My normal household use averages probably 2 gig per day, figuring in normal home + work usage, streaming vids, and the occasional mongo download such as a collection of Linux images. In choosing a place to settle, availability of land-line Internet connectivity will be a big deal.
