Responses on Twitter raise the obvious issues, as well as pointing to Frank Herbert's glowglobes.
Now, this sort of thing might make sense if we had infinitely cheap energy (for powering the drones) and vastly improved batteries (for powering the drones and the lights for a reasonable portion of the day), or some handy compact low-power means of levitation like a negative-density gas or Cavorite... otherwise, no.
But, it leads to ideas. Like: wearable headlights! (Yeah, they exist. Not very practical for around the house, and people are observed not to use them thus.)
Or: individually-controllable track lights, perhaps with pan/tilt mounts, and a Kinect in every room...? Find the people, determine where they're looking, and illuminate that. No batteries, no levitation.
