So there's this newly-discovered paleo-monotreme thingy. Seems it was, back in the day, a platypus with nasty sharp pointy teeth.
Part of its name (Obdurodon tharalkooschild) is explained thus:

Update: Duh. Seems Australia does have indigenous Muridae, including this critter.
