It seems Science! has just discovered that cooperation is a good long-term evolutionary strategy.
Well, duh? Survival of an individual, in the short term, may in some circumstances be enhanced by narrowly selfish behavior... but survival of a bloodline is a function of family and tribe, so longer-term reproductive success (at least for the likes of us apes) is largely a function of cooperation.
Next, someone will discover that free-market economics rests not on cutthroat competition but on extended voluntary (if often unconscious) cooperation.
