Amazon shipping and the possibility of global causality violation

Yeah, this has happened before....

I ordered a couple of soft-sided critter carriers from Amazon on Monday - from one of the not-Amazon sellers, so no Prime.  With standard shipping (the only flavor available), expected delivery was sometime in the range of May 3 to 8.

I just got a shipping notice from Amazon.  Expected delivery: Friday, May 3, 2013 - Wednesday, May 8, 2013.

Only: they arrived this morning.  After I'd made plans based on the assumption that I wouldn't have those carriers for a few days yet, but still a few hours before the shipping notice turned up.
