Vocabulary expansion

Metanoia?  Never heard of that one until today.  Sounds like just the right level of alertness, i.e., halfway between ortho- and para-noia, right?

Well... Roger Kimball used it this morning, in such a way that the meaning (in general terms) is clear from context.  Lex actually bothered to look it up.  Means "a change of mind."

And, as Kimball suggests, it's unlikely that Those Who Rule Us All So Wisely will experience one of these.

The rest of us, though, had better be mindful of Change and of our minds.  Mustn't be unmutual.
