Almost as useful as a solar-powered flashlight!

I saw this video yesterday, and promptly labeled it an exercise in pointlessness.  Now here's a bit of the story... it's meant to be an actual product?  That, like, someone's planning to manufacture and sell the thing?

If it were a project for exhibiting at the Maker Faire, it would make some kind of sense... or, perhaps, if the contraption were built just for the purpose of making a hoax marketing video?

Hmmm... I'm completely failing to find a source for the assertion that it's a product prototype.  Lotsa chatter, nothing sourced.  I vote "joke".
