Well, maybe not a conspiracy as such. but it's mighty peculiar.
I recently had occasion to visit a company over in Hayward. I consulted Google Maps. According to this, it seems that Baumberg turns right and becomes Arden, then Arden turns right and becomes Corporate.
Well, that turns out not to be the case. Fortunately, I was looking at street signs, and I spotted the turn for Corporate. Otherwise, I would have gotten confused.
Now I note that the street map is the same at Yahoo and MapQuest (link broken).
Look now at this view at Google. Go on - zoom in! Follow Arden as the road disappears but the pavement continues! Yes, in the satellite view as in real life, there's no gap in Arden.
So, how come Google, Yahoo, MapQuest, MSN, and Map24 all show the discontinuity there?
Ah, but Multimap has it right! Alert the Department of Homeland Security! Someone's got an accurate map of that corner of Hayward! Shut them down, quick!
