We now have confirmation that the house next door was indeed bought (at a suspiciously low price) by an investor; it's now being renovated, presumably to be resold at a considerable markup.
Which is probably good news. If it had sold at that price to an actual end-user, it would mark a significant drop in the local housing market.
I gotta get over this lingering-cold-and-stuff crud, and get back to work on getting my place ready to sell. (Joy's been busy clearing out clutter, tearing up the old carpet, and removing carpet fasteners and such from the underlying hardwood, but there's also quite a bit of stuff I still need to do personally.)
