Got a largish topic in the queue, for some day when I have time, energy, and motivation, but....
Busy with work (various), family stuff (ditto), holiday-related disruptions (just when ya get done with one dang holiday, there's another one to prepare for), and seasonal crud (brought on by dry indoor air and early sunsets; even with the full-spectrum light on over my desk, I can tell that it's night out there).
And I failed to have a camera along last week when I encountered the Young Venison Stuffed With Bay Nuts (or at least stuffing itself with bay nuts), so no cute photo to post. No photos of the Dread Guardians of Farm and Forest, either. (The Dread Guardian of the Forest seems to be having trouble learning its line; it's good at striking a defiant pose astride the trail, but then instead of saying "None shall pass" it says "mew?", which is not at all a proper thing for a Dread Guardian to be saying.)

Nice phrase, I'll pass along "Dread Guardians of Farm and Forest" to my daughter. We have two, referred to as "The Chlorine in the Local Gene Pool", "Cute, fluffy, with Fangs" , and a number of other phrases not repeatable in polite company. They are good hunters though, mice in our house don't last long. If Bwana (moi) doesn't trap them, the girls get them. About a 200 year old, converted one-room schoolhouse, it's got more nooks and crannies than a package of Thomas' English Muffins.
Your travails in the hardware space are an enjoyable read for me, especially until I get my activities going again. First thing, a new DMM. I foolishly left mine in Ohmmeter mode when attempting to read 220 AC on a furnace. One of the chips was faster than the fuse this time around. But you could see the spark through the non-transparent plastic case. 'Twas a wonder to behold. Plus I know who to ask the hard questions of when I get stumped.
Rock on dude, good read.
