Got a significant cash crunch, largely due to upstream issues, partly involving some big multinationals being very slow about paying their bills, postponing projects, or cancelling projects entirely. (These projects are big by small-business standards, but down in the noise for the multinationals.)
And, because that money hasn't been showing up, I'm hoarding what little cash I have, lest I need it to pay the mortgage next month.
So, my little CAPEX plans for June-ish have gotten postponed indefinitely, and LeCroy still hasn't gotten $1000 from me, nor has MakerBot (or similar) gotten $2000-ish. Oh, and the State hasn't gotten the sales taxes on those things I haven't bought.
And, yeah, $1000 isn't a big deal for LeCroy... but multiply by all the little guys who are putting off buying capital equipment, and it adds up.
And so the companies that make the capital equipment that we would have been buying don't have the cash flow they expected, and so they put off some of the spending that they had planned, and round and round it goes.
Where it stops, we all know.
