Visited the vampires yesterday (the ones at Kaiser, not the sparkly kind).
Results are filtering in. Mostly in the normal ranges, except for a couple of things that have been a little out of whack since forever.
But... my Hemoglobin A1C number just came back 6.1. And here I'd been keeping it a little under 6 the last couple of years.
Probably something to do with the, er, winter coat that I never quite shed this summer. Not getting out for long vigorous hikes on weekends, and such. That, and eating too much.
So: start including hills in the morning exercise routine (actually, I started that last Tuesday, just before coming down with What's Going Around, but hills are to resume next week). Cut back on the carbs, again, especially after-breakfast carbs.
Need to adjust my fat intake, too: HDL is finally in the normal range, barely, but LDL has been creeping up toward high-normal. Time to cut back on mammal fat and eat more oily fish. Maybe start eating avocados, too; I liked those when I was a kid, but disacquired the taste somewhere along the line.
Ah, well. Work now. Family stuff later in the day, and much of the weekend. Funny how "family stuff" and "eating right" never quite seem to go together, but at least some exercise should be involved.
