I would certainly expect any respectable politician, personally, to condemn such an ad, but...
When the Senate, as a government body, votes to condemn an exercise in political speech, however contemptible, I get bothered.
It is not the Senate's place to say what is, and what is not, proper public discourse, except perhaps on the part of Senators.
A plague on all their houses!
