I went for a little hike this morning, to burn off some excess calories before the day got too hot. This maybe wasn't the best idea, as I've got a bit of a sore foot and hiking made it worse. Anyway, while slogging up a hill, I was pondering....
Consider the humble pulsejet engine. It's basically an explosion-driven organ pipe, no?
So, if you cut a bunch of them to different lengths, and keyed them on and off, you'd have something like a calliope, only worse!
Now mount the calliope on a model airplane, alternating half-tones between the wings. Take off with all engines going in one huge discord, then, while it's in flight, attempt to play tunes that more or less balance the thrust between the left & right wings. (It'd probably need a fairly aggressive rudder. Maybe under computer control.)
[Update: see also The Mighty Wurlitzer.]
Or... have a few fixed-pitch engines, plus one that's got valves along the sides like a modern flute. Mount the drones on the wings, and the chanter atop the fuselage... flying bagpipes!
No, I don't expect to build one of these in time for Burning Man. Not that I go to Burning Man anyway; heat and sand don't agree with me.
